Whats with all the boring posts?

Just wanted to mention that we have been transferring my daily notes since I have started taking Depakote to the blog in order to better keep track of how it may be effecting me. So for a while the writing may end up being a bit dry.... heh.

  • Doc, this is hardly a boring subject. If more people knew about how awful a cluster headache is they would probably wish they were bored. My husband has had two cycles of clusters (06, 07) and now he is freaked out of his mind about having a 3rd. They start in March at the same time each year. He has a great doctor who prescribes the best meds out there. He has trouble sleeping i.e. he is scared to fall asleep. I find myself waking up before he goes to sleep. Has posting this information helped you - as far as expressing your feelings about the pain?

  • Please convey to your husband that I completely understand the "fear" of sleep. I talk about it a lot in my blog... unfortunately I have realized that my blog needs to be tagged so that people can find relevant post better.

I have always had messed up sleep patterns, in fact I suspect that it is related to the clusters in some way, but the effect you mention with your husband is also something I know all too well... waking up with an attack already in progress sucks. Bad things happen when you sleep. So I think you begin to develop a pavlovian response to sleep. It just feels like the wrong thing to do. I would even go as far as saying that for me, sleep is a trigger. During a bad cycle an accidental afternoon nap will bring on an extra off schedule attack.

I don't know if I feel better because I write about my headaches... I may feel a bit better if it lets others know they are not alone.
